Twitter Power Systems

If you have been using Twitter more than a day or two, you have probably come to the realization that there’s more to it than meets the eye. What on the surface looks like a piece of cake, upon further examination is more complicated than you thought.

Because I want to know how to use Twitter to enhance my business, I bought about every program out there. A lot of the information contained in most of the programs is repetitive and is freely available on the internet if you just take the time to research.

It is important before you go running off in a helter-skelter manner and just blindly add followers, to take a minute and step back and look at your goals for Twitter usage. You do have a reason for using Twitter don’t you?

You may not want everyone and their dog to be following you and likewise you may not want to follow everyone and their dog! Depends on your objectives. If you will notice, some of the “gurus” have a very select list of people they follow, and they won’t follow you back.

You may want to develop a small select group that you interact with. Not everyone wants or needs thousands of followers, again depends on your objectives. One of the most comprehensive products I found that was most helpful, was Twitter Manifesto. I felt it gave me the most bang for the buck.

Now if you are a businessman/businesswoman and are really serious about learning how to use Twitter, you can’t go wrong with Twitter Power System. It’s more expensive but has a lot more detail. Everything from helping you determine your Twitter goals, how Twitter interfaces with social media, and how to use Twitter for business. As the name implies, this is a system and like everything else in internet marketing, if you don’t have a system, you’re screwed. That’s a little blunt but it is a fact.

If I had one word of advice, it would be go slowly at first, get grounded in the fundamentals, then go for it. Twitter and Web 2.0 is powerful if you know how to use it.

My Verizon FIOS internet keeps dying randomly.?

I don’t get it. It keeps happening, but often g-chat will keep working when it happens. Also, often my twitter client (tweetdeck) will keep working too. Sometimes, those don’t work either. Any idea why?

FIOS networks are of course made of fiber optics usually a mixture of glass and plastics. The glass can crack and leak light information. When that happens data can be lost through light leakage. Thus your internet can seem like its going in and out.

Any ideas of where to start? I think it has a big market and i’ve seen many businesses have success.

If you use Twitter for business , you can let your followers know about your featured news, upcoming events, get feedback from buyers, or just interact with customers.

Twitter has proven to be a great system to build your reputation, increase traffic to your website, build your list, and most importantly, create a following that is looking for what you’re offering. This only makes the sales process so much easier.

First you have to know how to build reputation on twitter and facebook. Then the next thing is build good relationship with them.

Twitter is a social network. They join twitter because they want to make more relationship with others, make friends, talk about their problems etc. They don’t join so someone could sell everything to them everyday.

Give them value they want and they will attracted to you.

How does new websites as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc. produce money?

All of them are free-sites. I’ve even read that megacorps as Microsoft, Yahoo, Apple have invested and mantain financial interest in all this services.

So, what’s the business behind them? Advertising, marketing, publicity?

I haven’t…and if he is charging you then just forget it. Just about any information you could possibly need for Twitter Marketing is available free online…just look up free ebooks…you’ll find a ton. Join a few forums and read the posts and you’ll also get great information for internet marketing…most of the guys are helpful (you’ll find out who the jerks are just by reading their posts) just make sure you start in the newbie sections first before posting questions that may have already been answered. How can you use Facebook and Twitter if you want to start a career in (local) politics?What & the marketing strategies to get you notice? I live in a city of 1 million people and I am planning to start my way through the election of my community which is about 200.000 people.I have no experience but I am young and I believe in social medias sites in a way to touch people and to be connected with them and the reality, issue & probels of my neighborhood.I hear that Obama won the election partly thanks to Twitter and Facebook.I have no contact in my country with politician and no experience in that field.I just want to get started and first through social media sites.So what would be your advice for a strategy, the danger, strenght, weaknesses of Facebook & Twitter in my case…if you would like to share some pratical and general ideas, please, I am listening to you.Thank you very much.

Open a facebook, twitter and myspace. Put your goals, ideas, and methods in myspace and facebook. Use twitter to post recent events and what you think of them and how you can change them. Explore and try all kinds of things. Personally, I would avoid having anything to do with any particular party affiliation at first to keep all your doors open. Also, do not take anything for your sites that cannot be confirmed. Obama and his cabinet, basically his whole party is finally getting busted for their lies and manipulation of our government. Ex: climate statistics (main person admitted they were false) the bailouts for local government that is being burned through and once its gone its gone and dont forget their lie about health care. It was proved to be more expensive then private plans and is not feasible to implement financially due to the kickbacks and unions again. There will be many local government groups that will not be there due to their mismanaged funds and unions that will not stop until every penny is sucked dry out of these local governments. Also, consider what Obama did to NASA’s Constellation program and the backlash due to the cancellation of it. A good politican knows the past and does not repeat it. Obama is repeating all our mistakes. All this means my friend there is room for new thoughts and methods. If you truly love our country and want it to remain strong then follow through, slowly but surely and you will do quite well for yourself. REMEMBER ANYTHING YOU PUT ONLINE CAN AND WILL BE USED FOR YOU OR AGAINST YOU!. Sorry to rant. I just am so sick of whats happening in our government. Obama is destroying this country and I hope you see this and fix this horrible situation.

Is twitter useless for bloggers?

have two different blogs and I just started using twitter to try and promote them, but I put my link in an area where I knew thousands of people would see it (it was in a related topic so I wasn’t spamming) but I got nothing! The web site counter didn’t go up, I didn’t make any extra money, and because I wasn’t using my normal method of advertising, I actually got less people than I normally do!

I feel like I just waisted a lot of time and energy for nothing! Maybe I came to the party too late. It’s seems that twitter is just overrun with links, so I guess everyone just ignores them now. Everyone kept telling me I should use twitter,when it first came out, that it was awesome, but maybe I waited too long, I don’t know.

I should also mention that I used link compression (bit.ly) so I don’t know if that had something to do with it or not.bit said that my link was clicked many many times, but my web site counter didn’t show anything, nore did any of the sites I use to track my blog stats.

Does anyone use twitter and actually get results? If so, can you explain what I’m doing wrong? I know that my post will get buried in no time, but I don’t want to keep repeating the same message over and over again, or that would be spamming right?

I have a gizmo that sends a tweet for every new post; I usually get 15-35 clicks, though only 5-10 show up on SiteMeter. I think this is just due to incompatibilities between old counters and new methods.

(I use bit.ly for other people’s links, but my own domain for mine.)

The White House is collecting and storing comments and videos placed on its social-networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube without notifying or asking the consent of the site users, a failure that appears to run counter to President Obama’s promise of a transparent government and his pledge to protect privacy on the Internet.

Marc Rotenberg, president of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, said the White House signaled that it would insist on open dealings with Internet users and, in fact, should feel obliged to disclose that it is collecting such information.

"The White House has not been adequately transparent, particularly on how it makes use of new social media techniques, such as this example," he said.

Defenders of the White House actions said the Presidential Records Act requires that the administration gather the information and that it was justified in taking the additional step of asking a private contractor to "crawl and archive" all such material. Nicholas Shapiro, a White House spokesman, declined to say when the practice began or how much the new contract would cost.

Susan Cooper, a spokeswoman for National Archives and Records Administration, said the presidential records law applies to "social media" and to public comments "received by the president or immediate staff."

Mr. Obama signed a memo in January stating that his efforts to maintain an open government would be "unprecedented" and "ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation and collaboration."

An Obama campaign document on technology pledged that, as president, Mr. Obama "will strengthen privacy protections for the digital age and will harness the power of technology to hold government and business accountable for violations of personal privacy."

In a June 5, 2008, article in PC Magazine, Mr. Obama said, "The open information platforms of the 21st century can also tempt institutions to violate the privacy of citizens. We need sensible safeguards that protect privacy in this dynamic new world."

The National Legal and Policy Center, a government ethics watchdog, said archiving the sites would have a "chilling effect" on Web site users who might wish to leave comments critical of the administration.

Ken Boehm, a lawyer and chairman of the center, also disputed that the presidential records law applies, because the comments are pasted onto a third-party Web page and not official correspondence with the president.

"If the White House has nothing to hide, why is this cloaked in secrecy? Why won’t they make the dollar amount this is going to cost public?" Mr. Boehm asked. "I don’t think there is an expectation that this is being captured by the government and saved."

But Patrice McDermott, director of OpenTheGovernment.org, called the proposal "a positive development because it demonstrates a commitment from the Obama administration to meet its obligations under the Presidential Records Act."

"Additionally, I am encouraged to see the administration recognizing that it must find a way to handle the ever-expanding amount of data generated electronically. I hope the rest of the executive branch will learn from the president’s leadership on this issue," Ms. McDermott said.

Shahid Buttar, executive director of the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, called for congressional oversight of the practice of collecting data.

"Given the administration’s disappointing secrecy in other contexts, the Bill of Rights Defense Committee encourages Congress to conduct oversight to ensure compliance with the law, maximize transparency and protect individual privacy," Mr. Buttar said.

According to the law, the term "presidential records" means documentary materials "created or received by the president, his immediate staff or a unit or individual of the Executive Office of the President whose function is to advise and assist the president, in the course of conducting activities which relate to or have an effect upon the carrying out of the constitutional, statutory, or other official or ceremonial duties of the President."

"It includes any documentary materials relating to the political activities of the president or members of his staff, but only if such activities relate to or have a direct effect upon the carrying out of constitutional, statutory, or other official or ceremonial duties of the President," the law says.

David Almacy, who served as President George W. Bush’s Internet director, said the Bush administration did not use the then-fledgling social-networking sites in the same manner as the Obama White House, except to upload presidential speeches onto iTunes. The White House, however, did archive comments posted to its official Web site.

We are looking to increase our presence and strategy in the social networking world, such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. I am trying to do some research as to how other companies use this. I’m interested in hearing how the daycare down the street uses these sites as well as how large companies with unlimited resources use these programs as a way to find the 2 ends of this new market. Any advice?

There are several ways to use social media websites that can achieve great results.

One thing we do on social media websites is create games and contests for our communities to participate in. Even something simple can attract a lot of attention, so long as it is interesting and fun. Some companies do giveaways over social media networks as another means of gaining attention. You are only limited by your creativity as to what you can accomplish using social media.

London, September 9 (ANI): A cottage on an English island may have become the most envied house after its owner converted it into one of the most hi-tech homes in the world by connecting it to popular internet messaging service Twitter.

IBM head of invention Andy Stanford-Clark installed his home with hundreds of sensors that inform him when his dinner is ready, if someone is at the door or when a mouse has been caught in a trap.

The Tudor cottage on the Isle of Wight automatically sends a Tweet or message to the 43-year-old engineer if energy usage level is higher than normal or if he has left a light on or a tap running. The house also alerts about things ranging from the burglar alarm to be relayed by the blogging website.

"Monitoring things such as how much power our house is using can give us valuable insights into the cost of various appliances in the home," the Telegraph quoted him as saying at the British Science Festival.

"Recently I was out and got a tweet saying water usage was higher than normal. I phoned home and my wife looked out of the window to see the garden hose had been left on.

"This can help us take steps to reduce our carbon footprint and reduce energy bills. Mine has dropped by a third in the last year. These systems are also relatively inexpensive to set up - a basic set-up would cost around 150 pounds," he added.

Stanford-Clark also said: "It is impossible to know if traps have been triggered without constantly checking. So I developed a Twitter mousetrap which sends me a message when it is triggered." (ANI)

Instead of using his brain and turning the water hose off himself he had to have a computer tell him to.
Everyone knows leaving water on and things plugged in uses resources. I don’t need a computer to tell me that.

I’m having a bit of a trouble selling my photography on RedBubble. Redbubble sets the price of my photos and I do not have control over the price. If I lowered the price, then I wouldn’t make any money and I have been laid off and cannot afford to not make any. I do advertise my work. I advertise on Craigslist, Facebook, Twitter, local town papers, etc. and it isn’t working. I’ve tried selling my work on other sites, but they’ve turned out to be scams. I’ve had several feedback from potential employers, but they will not hire me because they believe my work to be ‘art deco’ as they call it. I have a lot of Holga, holgaroids, medium format photos in my gallery (about 15 of them) and I really enjoy shooting in black & white. Any tips or advice? Any other websites out there to sell or display work?

I own a small child-centered business in PA. We have been open a little over a month and have had quite a bit of success with our marketing, but we are still lacking the amount of traffic I would expect. Thus far we have been featured on every local network’s evening news, done radio commercials, created accounts on Twitter and Facebook, posted on Craigslist several times, distributed print materials to community bulletin boards and pediatrician’s offices, published online articles, posted on blogs, created a website, offered giveaways, and created business partnerships throughout the community. Next month we will be featured in a local coupon magazine. Our business website is http://tinytoestoys.com. If anyone has some solid advice for getting more traffic through the doors it would be appreciated. I’m the promoter and marketer of a new art gallery that has only been in existence for 4 months. So far, the gallery markets online via Twitter, a Facebook Fan page, is on Yelp, etc.

I have a ton of friends on Facebook so I sent them the suggestion.

What are some great ways of driving more traffic to the fan page and/or getting more people to the gallery in general?

Any and all ideas would be appreciated!

Basically, the best thing I can imagine is creating your own website. It’s easy and very cheap, especially if you can afford 20$. There are ways to market the websites pretty easily and I highly advise creating one.

There are tons of websites out there that can help you with this like niche blitzkrieg… google sniper… etc, tons of other products.

But yea, the websites are the best way to go

I have an assignment to complete, and I don’t even understand the question. Please could you try and explain it to me in simple terms…?

Interface Implementation:

For this task you need to code at least one part of your client application to show how your selected
technologies

• implement one or more message exchanges between your client and a web service provider to
retrieve information for use in your client;

• implement one or more user screens to show how data can be requested and retrieved from a
web service provider and then displayed to the user.

I need the bullet points explained. I made an API of Google Maps, BBc News, Yahoo Images and Twitter. I just did this using GET and POST HTTP. I don’t really understand XML messaging etc.

Any help will be GRATELY appreciated.

Web services exchange data using XML. I like to think of web services as dynamic link libraries for web. A web service is really a collection of functions that return values. Instead of using binary machine instructions to call these methods, XML is exchanged over a network to tell the service to execute a method, and the return results (if any) are returned as XML.

For the first bullet point, you want to write some code that calls a web service method (maybe a twitter or Google Maps method).

For the second bullet point, you want to display the data returned from a web service call.

I was just wondering your thoughts here, I had a thought as to wether advertising mixed with real-time search results such as from social networks like twitter or facebook could be massive in terms of advertising dollars enabling facebook & twitter to directly compete with a company such as a the likes of google in the online ad business through social ads. Would this be more relevant for consumers wishing to find exactly what they want by filtering search results through real-time and could this become a multibillion-dollar money maker?

I understand google is moving toward real time search, which has some seo rank builders quaking in their boots. Facebook’s unbeatable demographics give them a targeting edge, they are uniquely big enough to operate completely in their own separate world, look in the future for the Facebook operating system for your computer…

Basically, the section you are referring to is not paid advertising solicited by Twitter or anything like that. It is actually a place where you can post a profile about yourself or your business.

My advice if you are promoting your business or services is to succinctly list your solutions as it may relate to someone looking for your service. So, if you are a real estate agent, you could say,
"I help first time homebuyers find the best home, mortgage for their budget" Instead of "I am a great real estate agent in the South Florida Area".

When I used to be a consultant, I would suggest my clients go to a school and donate some products for a school fundraiser. In return for this, the school allows you to include coupons or special offers in a flyer announcing the fundraiser. You might even be able to be invited to the fundraiser night or dinner and promote your company.

You can deduct the cost of the donation and flyer production as business expenses, as well as your traveling cost to/from the school premises.

Yes! I’ve been using Kutano, which is pretty sweet. It’s got all the basic stuff (Timeline, @ replies, DMs) and also a tab for seeing who started or stopped following you- and you can even follow or unfollow those ppl back… haha.

My favourite part of it though is that it also shows you tweets about the web page you’re on which are pretty fun to check out and respond to. Especially on random funny or controversial pages ;).

I’ve noticed that just about every church in Sydney has this new marketing strategy advertised out the front. It’s a banner with “Jesus” in big letters and then the phrase, “All about life” after it. There has also been TV advertising. It directs people to a website where they can post in a picture and a short Twitter style message and thank this “Jesus” for whatever they want. Christian spam.i haven’t seen that in the U.S. yet…

Hello everyone, today I decided to make a twitter account, even though I’ve always been the one who’s anti-myspace, facebook, etc. I guess if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, rite? …and I’m wanting to get the word out there a bit, but I’m having trouble. I can’t afford to pay for advertising, but I don’t know how else to go about it without it being considered spam. I’ve been trying things like Face Book and Twitter, but I don’t know how to get people attention on those sites either. I’m sort of going round in circles…

Any suggestions please? This is becoming really frustrating!

You could start a group about the Autistic Spectrum on Facebook and ask all your friends to join and ask them to invite all their friends. Use you web site as a reference point for your group. You may want to join other more general disability groups on Facebook and use your membership to publicise your site.

I have only had a quick look at your web site but I really liked it. I think that it is great that you can write about AS in the first person. You may want to consider adding other, related, conditions like dyspraxia, ADHD, even dyslexia - it really does depend how wide you draw the autistic spectrum as to what you might want to include.

I work in disability services at a UK University (and a Facebook addict) and if I can be of any help you are welcome to get in touch.

I use the internet to market my business. I would like to use my real name to set up Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, and similar accounts so that I can brand myself. My problem is that my name is so common! It is being used by other people already. I can’t use my own name to create accounts. Where are all my followers coming from?

I recently created a twitter for my small tshirt company (http://www.twitter.com/mokothemonkey) and over about a month I have gotten 18 followers. I only know 2 of them. Where did the others come from? I haven’t advertised it much and barely use hashtags.

Do sites such as Face book or Twitter really make a difference in your networking or social life?

I go to high school and i know quite a few people. But i would kinda like to change up my my social status a lil bit. Maybe meet some people or go to a few party’s i wouldn’t normally be at. Any tips or advice is very appreciated. Thanx!

Simple answer, yes, yes it does. It can really be detrimental to your behavior and mentality, trust me, experience.

Here, here’s an example. I’ve never used Facebook or even Myspace but I’ve used Twitter or Youtube just a bit. But most of all, Twitter was my thang and let’s just say I’m supposed to be in jail but that’s for another story to be told. Let’s just say, I made myself known and I have power…no for real, is true!

But to be serious with you, yes, yes it can have major psychological changes to your behavior. Is very serious and doctors have classified social networking sites as abnormal, meaning not normal or withing the norm. It is very dangerous to what you post and what you say cause you have hundreds of people seeing what you write and don’t write. Just put it this way.

Take a walk to your local park or mall and just go up to someone and tell em how they are doing. Is that simple, that’s social networking. The only difference is that we are more secured and trustworthy behind a computer than in physical appearance. It can really make the difference.

You basically don’t know these people and therefore, are discriminating against them. And yes, it is discrimination when people of all sites, don’t matter which one you go, make surreal and unorthodox statements about a person they never met or seen. Celebrities or other well known actors all have their own personal webistes where their fans can intercat but even they don’t realize how dangerous and predictable can be perceived.

Perception is a big tool and asset in this world of ours, it is dangerous. And that’s what social networking is. But in this day and age, is a common theme. For example, it was used in politics by President Obama and how he changed the landscape of communicating technologically. So it can be a game changer but also, a mind breaker.

Social networking is very, very dangerous cause you basically are putting yourself to the whole word. Many well known professionals out there use it more than ever before, like athletes for example. They use it to interact with their fans and showcase their personality. Personality is good, everybody has it and endured it but let’s face it, not everyone in the world will like you.

Is one thing if you have your friends from school or family members cause that’s personal attachment but in terms of having your own agenda or social site, be careful what you post, trust me. I have first hand esperience on it and I am more powerful than ever before. I hate to say it but let’s just say the jokes was on them and people hate me cause of it, I changed the landscape of it and you think our government is gonna care about a guy who never threaten? Record wise? Exactly and what you post online can and will be viewed by any entity out there. Be aware.

Nowadays, people do it as a common norm. It seems O.K. Some date or look for dates, some write their own personal messages, etc. It can be used for anything. Is really up to you and remember, there are no regulations on the internet, so anything goes. Keep that in mind.

I always knew social networking sites were as dangerous as abuse, addiction, etc. I always knew that but like I said, what happens in the internet, stays on the internet. Heck, I’ve turned the tables on them and nothing is more predictable than realizing you were right all along, *wink*,

Good luck and don’t take it as serious, trust me, studying psychology, it can really f— you up.

Hi, i have an online business and need ways to advertise it. Currently I am only depending on google advertising paying 500/month. I do know there are free ways as in twitter/facebook/etc. but that takes alot of time. Is there any reputable company out there that is willing to take a premium to maximize exposure of your site and has a good track record of that?

For gaining traffic to your site, you will be looking at some time being spent.

Few methods I use:

1. Leave comments on blogs/site in some high PR site.
2. Tell your friends about your web site and specific posts by email or simply put tell a friend scripts on your web site and let it spread the word of mouth. You can try one from SocialTwist.
3. Put your site URL in your forum signatures and be active poster.
4. Submit your site into High PR Directory Submission
5. Submit your Article to Social Bookmarking site.

I’ve been blogging daily at www.theskinnygourmet.net for over a couple of months. Traffic is limited to only what I "advertise" on Facebook, Twitter and through my signature line when I email. I have NO clue how to get it out there. I’ve worked so hard on this blog and really want to share. I’m just not sure how to get where I need to go. Can anyone help?

Major traffic-generating methods involve RSS feeds, search engine optimization (SEO), social networks (which you’ve been doing somewhat), partnerships and community building. Also, popularity is not just measured in total number of unique page hits or number of followers. You should look for ways to retain readership, beyond a one-time visit. You can advertise your business on Twitter but its seen as social media so I wouldn’t blantly advertise on it. I’d setup an account and then discuss and share links in your business area.

I have a Twitter account (dot_design) and I share links and views on design this has gained me over 2300+ followers in around 6 months, I’ve achieved this by being me and by sharing rather than just plugging my business. I recommend this way of going about things. Hope this helps.

I invite top casting directors, talent agents, and managers to my actor events in Los Angeles. I have recently hit a big wall in terms of attracting actors. Only a handful of actors are responding whereas I used to get more. The events cost $40 each– the going rate for similar events by other companies in Los Angeles.

Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and Craigslist aren’t helping to increase the actor attendance at my events. I have tried to recruit promoters in exchange for free attendance at my events, but that didn’t work.

Does anyone have any marketing suggestions? Any suggests at all?

It looks like many sites (including Yahoo! Answers) probably benefit from targeted advertising on the side panel, but do customers really even use that? I mean, I am convinced that even heavily-trafficked sites and apps like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter will go out of business in 10 years if they don’t find some other way to make money. Maybe I’m missing something?

If you have the traffic that Google has, it’s most certainly a good business model.

If you’re asking about AdSense, where Google places their ads on your site for a share in the profits, unless you have a lot of traffic, you will only be getting pennies.

I would try to find a good affiliate program related to your website that offers CPA (per action/acquisition), not CPC (per click, ala Google AdSense).

Hi Danny-
Here are my best tips:
1) Do not be too "salesy". Be conversational and occasionally you can work in something promotional.
2) Mix business with personal. No one wants to hear about business all of the time.
3) Regularly post to Twitter - at least once a day.
4) On the flip side, don’t post too much. No more than 1-2 hour or you will annoy people.
5) Provide good information (articles, tips, advice) so people will want to follow you.
6) Be engaging - answer questions, ask questions, respond to people
7) Be polite - thank people when they retweet you or recommend you as someone to follow.
Help promote others - retweet valuable information, call out your favorite Twitterers by their Twitter name.

America and our cities are supposed to be prosperous, 1st world, rich, etc, yet it seems so violent, ghett0, the people are unhappy, shady, mean, and it’s like this atmosphere of misery, work work work, busy busy busy….this to me doesn’t seem like a very well off and happy and great country.It seems like a miserable little mostly working class country with the few elite, that everyone else wants to be like but can’t, so they go out and buy their Ed Hardy shirts and try to emulate the rich, while drowning in debt.To me that’s America. the land of phonies, mean people and jerks, who care about status, power, money, and it’s all about schooling, being on the go, using people, abusing people, yet …they’re doing all that fighting and clawing to get to the "top" but half of them NEVER make it, ever.It’s also very violent, LOTS of accidents, lots of road rage.

I have a live music club that is a fabulous venue. Great atmospher, great colors, great live music…all of the customers who come love it. The problem is I do not have enough people coming in. All I keep hearing about is Twitter this and Twitter that. I have a couple of niche websites that I make money from affiliate products on as well as two blogs, and I have not set up a Twitter account yet. I just want to make sure that I am not wasting my time with it. I am busy enough as it is and if marketing on Twitter is not going to make me money, then I’m not going to bother. So, has anybody seen a real increase in revenue from marketing on Twitter?

I have been on Twitter for about 8 months now but I don’t do much marketing per say on it. I actually follow Matt Bacak and his work and I have learned from him that marketing on Twitter is not as effective as people think it is. There are so many people that claim that social media increases income and is such a great marketing tool, but being on Twitter I have not seen the income I have generated come from that site. My income still comes from my mailing list and organic traffic.
According to Matt Bacak, Twitter is a good networking tool, but the fundamentals like article marketing and pay-per-click are the marketing tools that are going to get you the money. I usually use Twitter to make networking connections for jobs and things of that nature or find new people to follow that are interesting, whether for personal or professional reasons.
My Twitter is not for marketing at all and it is definitely ok that you don’t have a Twitter account. I would check out what Matt Bacak says about marketing on Twitter (www.mattbacak.com) as it makes so much sense when he says to stick to the basics and you will see money.

I advertise on facebook, twitter and thru email, but still on 7 people since beg of oct. I know it’s something people like!!! Scentsy, but no one will look. any suggestions?

London, Oct 13 (ANI): A new survey has revealed that British people feel happy and relaxed only when they are connected to Internet.
The obsession with online social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter is keeping two-thirds of the population hooked to Internet 24 hours a day.According to the report by Virgin Media, the fear of getting lost is also prompting people to have permanent access to the web so that they can log onto GPS mapping systems through their iPhone or Blackberry.

The experts have labelled the new generation as the "SOSOs" - who "switch on to switch off". lmost 35 pct of the respondents said they are more relaxed if they have the Internet at their fingertips.
Around a third said being without the Internet caused them stress because they couldn’t work while 27 percent feared that they could miss an important message from a friend.

"SOSOs know that, even if they wish to take some time out, the modern world will continue without them," the Sun quoted psychologist Nik Simpson as saying.

"At any moment, an urgent email may ping into an inbox, a client may call, an old friend may get in touch via facebook or a family member may want to get in touch.

"Disconnecting from technology might mean missing something we cannot afford to. Always being connected actually becomes increasingly essential for peace of mind, further reinforcing SOSO values," Simpson added. (ANI)

Actually my real life interferes with the internet. I have too much going on to spend time on the internet. I only post here as often as I do inbetween calls at work. People who are on the internet a lot have too much time on their hands but no real life.

I’ve noticed that on other sites people advertise their Twitter, Myspace, Facebook etc. and ask strangers to follow them. I’d like to know, why you would want a whole bunch of strangers knowing your every move? You’re just telling people exactly what you are doing, where you are, etc. all day long. Don’t they think that this can be an open invitation for people to stalk (literally follow you) or let them know when you aren’t home to rob you? It doesn’t take much to find someone’s address etc. and you’re just letting them know exactly where you are, how long you are there, when you’re going back home. And also, (especially for teens and females) if they’d like to do something to you (rape, abduct, whatever), it’s almost like you’re handing yourself over to them. You’re asking random strangers (some of which I’m pretty sure don’t have the best of intentions) to know you’re every move.

I thought that in this day and age, with the internet, people are always warning their children about giving out too much info to strangers online, so with Twitter, aren’t you doing just that and more?

I don’t get it. I don’t want anyone knowing every single move I make, especially people I don’t know. Whose life is that interesting that everyone wants to know exactly what they are doing, 24/7?

(this question will be the only time I tell anyone online to FOLLOW ME)
HeyZz……..But that’s my point! They advertise on other sites (like mediatakeout.com) asking everyone to follow them! They don’t know them, and they say I’ll add you, follow me, etc….

i know its kinda weird…
but i think that alot of celebrities do that more than regular people do
plus im not sure but i think the only people who can follow u r ur friends… im not sure iv never wanted a twitter xP

I am trying to market a book about backpacking to a Young audience. I have been utilizing Twitter, and Facebook, but I need more avenues. Ideas?

Start a blog about backpacking and write two or three posts a week and submit them to your Twitter and Facebook accounts. Advertise the book on your blog.

Or, put together some video presentations about backpacking and upload them to YouTube. Put a link on your YouTube video page to the page that you’ve designed to sell the book.

Write a sales letter (or hire someone to write it) selling the book. I wouldn’t make it too long because this age group has a very short attention span, but you need a site to send people to so you can get them to buy the book.
